6 Week Boot Camp Week 6- Day 5 and 6 Herbal Pain Remediesherbs that heal

The end of our Don’t Stop Keep Going Boot Camp is so close you can feel it!!! Throughout the 6 weeks I’m sure you must have experienced some muscle and joint pains to say the least lol. Instead of reaching for the bottle of Tylenol, or Advil etc, why not try an herbal remedy that will not only relieve the temporary pain but will heal, restore and has no side effects?

1. Lavender: Again one of my personal favorites and is a must have in my house.  Lavender tea helps promotes relaxation reducing spasms in your muscles. It can also help get rid of pain linked to arthritis and backache. It’s found to be effective against headaches as well. Under medical supervision, it’s one of the best herbal solutions that can help one deal with chronic pain. Take a few drops of lavender oil in your hands and massage it into the aching muscle and you will begin to feel it’s soothing effects.  Can be bought online at Amazon.

It is prepared by adding two teaspoon of flowers in a mixture of boiled water. Inhale the beautiful aroma and let it soothe and relax you then sweeten with the organic honey and sip it while it’s hot.

2. White Willow Bark: A daily cup or two of willow bark tea is approximately the equivalent of a low aspirin dose but unlike aspirin it is easy on the stomach. It relieves body aches, and pains in the joints. It can be bought in pill form or taken as a tea.  It’s another herb that I personally use for aches and pains. Can be bought online at Amazon.

White Willow Bark Tea
Start by adding 1 to 2 teaspoons of white willow bark to 8 ounces of water. willow_bark_teaUse 16 ounces and added about 4 teaspoons. Allow this to boil for about 5 to 10 minutes. Once it has boiled, turn off the heat and allow it to steep between 20 and 30 minutes. You will notice the herbs drop down to the bottom of the pan and the tea is taking on a beautiful red color. While boiling you can add a stick of cinnamon for flavor. Strain and add natural sweetner to taste. Take 1-2 cups/day for pain. Can be bought online at Amazon.

3. Arnica: Arnica herbal tea is great for healing bruises, relieving muscle pain and treating injuries. However, arnica infusions should only be used externally and not drunk, unless under medical supervision. Arnica herbal tea has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that make it the right tea to alleviate muscle pain. Prepare a cup of Arnica tea and use it as a foot bath for tired aching feet. Can be bought online at Amazon.

Arnica Tea
Infuse 1 teaspoon of dried (or powdered) flower into ½ cup of hot water.
Allow the mix to steep for about 10 minutes. arnica

Arnica Ointment
3/4 cup oil infused with arnica (pour oil over 1 ounce dried herbs in a jar, shake daily for six weeks)
Add a few drops of Peppermint Essential Oil
Apply to sore muscles

There are many Herbal Remedies for pain and various methods of use such as teas, tinctures, oils, and ointments. Always do research and read about the side effects of whatever herb you’ve decide to use. If any side effects occur discontinue use. I personally use all of the above and have found them to heal better than store bought remedies with no side effects. Have Fun, Do More, Try Harder!!! Be Well.
