lavender heavenDaniel Fast Day 20 and You’re almost there!!!  Now we’re on to my personal favorite subject Herbs that Heal.  Lavender, Peppermint, Chamomile, Calendula, and Comfrey just to name a few.  There are so many varieties with so many powerful remedies.  Let’s explore.

Let’s start with LAVENDER!!! I can’t sing its’ praises enough.  It is the cure for whatever ails you.  Just the scent and beautiful purple color, has a very calming and soothing effect on the spirit, soul, and body.  The flowers and the oil from the flowers are used for restlessness, insomnia, nervousness, and depression. Feeling down? Or have a headache? Rub a little lavender oil on your temples and by your nose.  I works wonders. It is also used for a variety of digestive complaints including loss of appetite, vomiting, nausea, and upset stomach.  It repelslavender mortar and pestle insects, is a treatment for acne, heals burns, cuts and bruises and provides pain relief.  It is also used in countless hair and beauty products. For me it is my go to herb and oil and I’m never without it.

My second favorite tea in the world is Peppermint.  Another versatile tea with a wide range of uses both medicinal and culinary.  benefits of peppermintPeppermint contains aromatic compounds that increase the production of digestive fluids, relieve muscle spasms, increase blood circulation, reduce pains, promote sweating and are antiseptic. It also contains astringent compounds which shrink inflamed tissues.  As an infused tea, tincture or oil it can be used for, an upset stomach, indigestion, morning sickness, or motion sickness.  It alleviates a headache or stomachache and relaxes stomach spasms.  For a cough or cold you can use the peppermint essential oil as a cold rub on your chest or inhale it through a vaporizer to help clear nasal congestion and clear your respiratory tract.   Peppermint leaf peppermint leaf makes a delicious, calming (and caffeine free) tea that is invigorating in the morning and improves digestion if consumed after meals. It is another tea and oil I am rarely without.

Chamomile tea is one of the most recognized and commonly used teas in the world. But, did you know that while you were sipping your tea it was, giving you a skin care treatment by fighting acne and clearing up blemishes and chamomile tea benefitsscars??? Well it is, because chamomile is instilled with amazing healing, anti-oxidant, cleansing and moisturizing properties and is considered a complete skincare treatment. If consumed on a regular basis, chamomile tea nourishes and moisturizes your skin from deep inside. You may also want to use chamomile in your homemade beauty recipes to draw its beauty benefits. Infused with great healing properties, it accelerates the healing process of minor wounds, disinfects the wounds and soothes the pain.  Garden-chamomile-BouquetChamomile tea has muscle relaxing which reduce muscle spasms and makes it a perfect tea for that “time of the month”.  It has anti-bacterial properties therefore increasing your ability to fight off coughs and colds and to recuperate faster from the flu.
